Scads of work to do but piddling all day just waiting on news.

I am grateful for friends who share these great sayings that make me think and make me laugh.

I am grateful for memories of Mom saying the words “scads” and “piddly.”  She had scads of empty toilet paper rolls for just-in-case Children’s Church crafts, and scads of used ziplock bags that she insisted on worshing, even when they would no longer zip. And sometimes her plants look a little piddly. Or she wouldn’t throw out a spoonful or piddly bit of leftovers.

I am grateful that today Mom has a great first row seat for the birth of her seventh great grandchild.

I am grateful for my brother-in-law Pete, who is showing Dad the excitement of Chicago and for my sister, who provided them with tickets to the game today.

I am grateful for the hymn “He Brought Me Out” from Psalm 40.

He brought me out of the miry clay,
He set my feet on the Rock to stay;
He puts a song in my soul today,
A song of praise, hallelujah!

I am grateful for my therapist who therapied me in order that I might deal with others who are not being therapied by her.

I am so grateful that my daughter is finally in the hospital and is keeping me updated through text messages. Work is difficult for this Mom who would love nothing more than to be by her daughter’s side today, or at least in her home preparing for their homecoming and taking care of the brother and sisters…

And I am grateful that it is Friday and the weekend is packed full of things to do to keep me and my mind occupied.
